6. As you stated in the question, “if it were me” is more common. I would use this form. However, which is correct seems to be a common topic of debate. See Wikipedia for an analogous question about whether “it is I” or “it is me” is correct. Using “me” is more common, but some grammarians consider using “I” .

7. Jul 18,  · I do wonder how long it would take me to realise I was the only one left. I’ll probably start to suspect things are awry when I venture into the kitchen for my morning toast. I may see something unusual that would draw my eye to the fact everyone is gone.

8. It could be either depending on the context. “If it were you” would be used in a hypothetical (contrary to fact) situation i.e. “If it were you [asking], I would do it for you..(or something like that)” the implication being that it is not you but.
